Care of your Tusk products

General instructions

We utilize a range of different leathers and fabrics in our products. All of our leathers require minimal maintenance. Vegetable tanned leathers in general do not require cleaning and become increasingly supple with use. Embossed leathers can be wiped with a damp cloth. We do not recommend the use of any oil based products such as mink oil since they may stain the leather. We also do not recommend the use of any cleaners to remove ink, grease or oil as these types of stains have a tendency to bleed. Whenever attempting to clean anything, always test clean a less visible area before trying on the entire piece.

Specific care by collection

Leonardo, Nairobi Brights, Nairobi Resort and Tampa Classics
These collections are made with vegetable tanned kidskin. Natural oils from your hand will make this leather more supple. Lighter colors in this leather will become darker with use. A damp cloth may be used to wipe surface dirt.

Brando, Donington, Kyoto and Planners & Agendas
This vegetable tanned calfskin is finished by hand which gives it a deep, lustrous shine. To remove surface dirt, wipe gently with a damp cloth.

Amherst, Aspen, Bedford, Croco and Lenox
Made from embossed cowhide, this leather is extremely resilient. As with our other leathers a moist cloth can be used to remove surface dirt. You may also use a small amount of dish soap diluted with water. Always test wipe in a hidden area first before trying on the entire bag.

Chelsea Classics and Palo Alto
These collections are crafted from naturally tumbled cowhide. The tumbling results in a beautiful pebble grain pattern. The straps are made with vegetable tanned calf skin and will turn darker and suppler with use. A damp cloth will remove surface dirt. You may also use a small amount of dish soap diluted with water. Always test wipe in a hidden area first before trying on the entire bag.

Chicago
This collection is made from soft Napa leather with water based dyes and as such requires minimal care. Wipe with a damp or dry cloth.

Amsterdam Handbags, Gender Free Travel and Gotham
These collections are made from water resistant nylon with naturally tumbled buffalo trim. The nylon and trim leather may be gently wiped with a damp soft cloth and a small amount of diluted dish soap. Always test wipe in a hidden area first before trying on the entire bag.

Berkeley
This leather is laminated and extremely resistant to dirt and stains. We do not recommend the use of any water or cleaners on this collection.

Caracas Metallic
Excessive rubbing or wiping may damage this metallic coated kidskin. We do not recommend the use of any water or cleaners on this collection.

Amsterdam Accessories
This naturally tumbled buffalo is extremely resilient and may be wiped with a moist cloth and a small amount of diluted dish detergent. Always test wipe in a hidden area first before trying on the entire piece.

Cabos
Wipe this lightweight raffia gently with a damp cloth.

Greenport
Coated canvas can be washed with a mild soap solution. Only a moist cloth should be used on the pebble grain trim to remove surface dirt. You may try a heavily diluted soap solution on the trim, but test in a hidden area first.

Evening Bags
The metal, which is solid brass, can be wiped with a damp cloth. We do not recommend wiping or cleaning the body.
